Among the most cherished events in Pizzone—a village of a few hundred inhabitants in the province of Isernia, set within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park—is the festival in honor of Santa Liberata, celebrated on June 10th. Although not the official patron saint (the patron is San Nicola di Bari), Santa Liberata is the object of deep devotion, and her festival is the one that most brings the community together.
Between faith and village festival
The day begins with the Holy Mass; afterwards, the statue of the saint is carried in a procession through the village streets, in a parade that also sees the participation of faithful from nearby villages, particularly from Scapoli. A characteristic fair of local products is set up in the main square, and the day is brightened by musical performances, in an atmosphere that blends religious solemnity with the joy of a village festival.

Pizzone is a gateway to the Molise side of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, a land of beech forests, bears, and unspoiled nature. On June 10, 2026, Pizzone renews the festival in honor of Santa Liberata, the most attended in the village. The program includes, as per tradition, Holy Mass, the procession of the statue through the village streets, the fair of local products in the main square, and evening musical performances.
