The patrons of Venafro and of the Diocese of Isernia-Venafro
Venafro (province of Isernia) dedicates its main patronal festival to the SS. Martyrs Nicander, Marcian, and Daria, patrons not only of the city but of the entire Diocese of Isernia-Venafro. The celebrations, traditionally concentrated around June 17th, the liturgical day of Saint Nicander, animate the historic center for several days with a packed religious and civil program.
The opening is entrusted to the characteristic bandarella, which starts from the Convent of the Capuchins and travels through the city streets announcing the festival. The religious heart of the celebrations is the solemn procession with the relics of the three martyrs, accompanied by the Great Band Concert and concluded by the fireworks. Alongside the devotional dimension, the civil part fills the squares of the ancient center with great music.
For the 2026 edition, the San Nicandro Festival Committee 2026 has brought the concerts back to the historic center, with events in Piazza Salvo D'Acquisto and Piazza Edoardo Cimorelli. Among the guests is singer-songwriter Marina Rei, one of the most recognizable voices in Italian music. The festival represents the most significant gathering moment of the year for the Venafro community.
For 2026, the San Nicandro Festival Committee 2026 has brought great music back to the ancient heart of Venafro, with a four-day program that blends religious and civil moments.
