The Patrons of Villongo
The Festa di Sant'Anna celebrates the patrons of Villongo, a municipality in the Sebino area, in the province of Bergamo: Saints Anne and Joachim, parents of the Virgin Mary. The commemoration takes place on July 26th, the day the Church remembers Saint Anne.
The Church of Sant'Anna
The heart of the celebrations is the church of Sant'Anna, located on Via Monte Grappa, where the solemn mass in honor of the patrons is held. The festival has both a religious and civil character, open to all citizens.
Summer of Patron Saint Festivals
The Festa di Sant'Anna is part of Villongo's rich summer season of patron saint festivals. The village was historically divided between the communities of Sant'Alessandro and San Filastro. July 26th represents a moment of unity for the town, where the spiritual dimension intertwines with community life, in the territory of the Bergamaschi Lakes, in the Lombardy Region.
