Festa di Sant'Anacleto

Belmonte del Sannio and its patron saint

Nestled in the mountains of Alto Molise, in the province of Isernia, Belmonte del Sannio cherishes an ancient devotion to Sant'Anacleto, its patron saint. The festival, celebrated annually on July 13th, has its roots in 1748, the year when – according to tradition – the saint's statue arrived in the village after a historic pilgrimage from Oratino.

The Peregrinatio and the procession

In the days leading up to the festival, the Peregrinatio Sancti Anacleti, a re-enactment of the original pilgrimage, takes place. On July 13th, the solemn highlight is the grand procession with the patron saint's effigy, accompanied by religious and civil authorities and the band, through the streets of the historic center.

Music, folklore, and community

Alongside the religious dimension, the festival features band concerts, folk group performances, and evening musical shows. The event is organized by the Comitato Feste della Parrocchia Santissimo Salvatore (Festival Committee of the Parish of Santissimo Salvatore), an expression of local volunteerism, and represents one of the most cherished identity moments of the entire summer for the community of Belmonte del Sannio.
