The village festival of Lomellina, between abundant cuisine and ballroom dancing
Amidst the rice fields of Lomellina, in the plain of the province of Pavia, the small municipality of Cozzo preserves one of the most genuine village festivals in the area. The Festa di Cozzo, organized by the local Pro Loco, takes place on the first weekend of September and is one of those events that tell the story of the rural and convivial soul of the lower Pavia plain.
The heart of the festival is the cuisine: abundant, genuine, faithful to the Lomellina gastronomic tradition. Porchetta is the undisputed star, along with typical dishes from the rice-growing area. Dinners are held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the festival area in Via Parrocchiale, where the Pro Loco volunteers serve tables with the generous portions that have made the festival famous.
Each dinner is accompanied by a dancing evening with the most famous ballroom dancing orchestras in the area. It is the tradition of Padan ballroom dancing, the soundtrack to village festivals in the plain, which transforms the festival area into a large open-air dance floor, where different generations gather.
The Festa di Cozzo is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the authenticity of Lomellina, far from mass tourism: good traditional cuisine, live music, and the warm atmosphere of a village that comes together around its festival. An event for those seeking the real Italy of the small towns of Pavia.
In 2026 too, the Pro Loco Cozzo is organizing the village festival on the first weekend of September (approximately Friday, September 4, Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6). The precise dates will be confirmed by the Pro Loco in the weeks prior. The program, faithful to tradition, includes evening dinners featuring porchetta and Lomellina cuisine, with generous portions, and dancing evenings with the most renowned ballroom dancing orchestras in the Pavia area.
The dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be confirmed by the Pro Loco Cozzo in the weeks prior. Based on the established tradition, the program for the first weekend of September includes:
