About Festa dello Sport
A festival on the hill
The Festa dello Sport takes place at the Colle di San Maffeo, the hill that at 505 meters above sea level overlooks the Municipality of Rodero, in the province of Como, near the Swiss border. On the summit of the hill stands the church of Maria Regina Angelorum, built in 1714, which replaced an ancient chapel dedicated to Saint Matthew (San Matteo in the dialectal form).
Organized by Gruppo San Maffeo
The event is managed by the Gruppo San Maffeo, the association that enlivens the hill with its events. The Festa dello Sport opens the group's summer season and precedes the Sagra di San Maffeo, the main event in early August, and the Festa della Solidarietà in September. It is a day designed for being together outdoors, with sports activities, catering, and conviviality.
Between Rodero and the border
The Colle di San Maffeo is a cherished destination for the inhabitants of Rodero and the border area: from its tower, the view stretches across the Valle del Lanza. The festival enhances this identity-rich place, combining the sporting dimension with the community and gastronomic aspects typical of village festivals in the Como area.
Festa dello Sport — edition 2026
The Festa dello Sport 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, July 4th at the Colle di San Maffeo, above Rodero (CO), organized by the Gruppo San Maffeo. It is the first of the group's three major annual events on the hill, along with the Sagra di San Maffeo in August and the Festa della Solidarietà in September.

How to get there
Rodero is located about 13 km from Como, on the border with Switzerland. The Colle di San Maffeo can be reached on foot from the village with a short climb. By car, take the exit towards the western Como area from the Olgiate Comasco area.
