The pumpkin takes centre stage in autumn in the walled town
The Festa della Zucca, known in dialect as "Festa dea Suca", is the autumn sagra (traditional festival) of Cittadella (province of Padua) entirely dedicated to the season's symbolic vegetable. For a weekend in October, the historic centre of the walled town is coloured with autumn hues, blending peasant tradition, taste, and fun.
The programme includes workshops for children, local painters' exhibitions, a display of ancient agricultural tools, the pumpkin competition and exhibition, and a rich food and wine area with pumpkin-based specialties. In the evenings, there's space for concerts, in a festive atmosphere that engages both adults and children.
The event promotes the rural culture of the Alta Padovana region and its typical seasonal products, intertwining agricultural heritage, gastronomy, and entertainment in the evocative setting of Cittadella's ancient walls.
