About Festa dea Poenta

In September, the hamlet of Castelminio di Resana (Treviso) celebrates polenta with the Festa dea Poenta, a large village festival that evokes post-war Venetian peasant life. The heart of the event is the Palio dea Poenta, a challenge between the four historic districts of the town that recalls the harvesting and shelling of corn. With traditional cuisine, musical evenings, shows, and agricultural machinery exhibitions, it's an event that blends memory, identity, and fun.

The polenta festival

The Festa dea Poenta is the major village festival of the hamlet of Castelminio, in the Municipality of Resana (province of Treviso). The star is polenta (poenta in Venetian dialect), a symbol of the traditional cuisine and peasant culture of the area. The event is organized by the Festa dea Poenta Social Promotion Association.

The Palio dea Poenta

Established in 2005, the Palio dea Poenta is held every third Sunday in September and commemorates the days dedicated to harvesting and shelling corn, with a challenge between the four historic districts of Castelminio — a Fornasa, i Marta, e Motte and a Seolara de Santa Brigida — each with its own colored scarf. There's also the Power Pulling, a tractor-pulling competition, and the Marcia dea Poenta (Polenta Walk).

Memory and fun

In addition to the competition, the festival offers traditional cuisine, musical evenings, shows, cultural events, and exhibitions of agricultural machinery, in a program that combines the memory of the Venetian peasant world with the fun of a large village festival. It's an event that celebrates the roots of Castelminio and the entire Marca Trevigiana region.
