The Festa della Transumanza in Tremosine sul Garda, a municipality in the province of Brescia high above Lake Garda, celebrates one of the oldest rites of alpine culture: transhumance, the autumn descent of herds from mountain pastures to the valley floor. The highlight is the journey of the animals from Malga Ciapa in Tremalzo, where they depart at 7:30 AM, to the Alpe del Garda Dairy in Località Polsone, where they arrive around 11:00 AM. Afterwards, the festival continues with Brescian spit-roasted meat, polenta, and entertainment for the little ones, in an alpine setting overlooking Lake Garda.
