During the sweetest time of spring, when the gardens of the Valdichiana are in full bloom, the village of Viciomaggio, in the Municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana (Province of Arezzo, Tuscany), celebrates its Festa della Rosa. It is one of the most heartfelt local festivals in the Arezzo Valdichiana, drawing visitors from across the province for over ten days thanks to its authentic atmosphere and generous gastronomic offerings.

A festival for the spring holidays

The festival schedule spans the two major Italian spring holidays: April 25th and May 1st. It is the perfect time for a getaway in the Valdichiana: the countryside is blooming, and the village of Viciomaggio becomes a meeting point for families, groups, and dance music enthusiasts.

Cuisine and traditional flavors

The heart of the event is the food. Every evening, the restaurant and pizzeria open their doors, accompanied by a bar, with a menu that highlights traditional Tuscan and Arezzo specialties. The highlights are the two Pranzi della Rosa (Rose Lunches): the one on April 25th featuring the famous rotisserie, and the one on May 1st featuring oven-baked dishes, both available by reservation. During the final evenings, the grill house also opens for lovers of charcoal-grilled meats.

Music, dancing, and fun

The Festa della Rosa is, above all, about music. Every evening offers something different: ballroom orchestras for dance nights, DJ sets for younger crowds, and themed events like quiz shows. Orchestras and artists from the Tuscan dance scene take the stage in a program designed to engage all generations.

The tractor rally

One of the most characteristic events is the tractor rally organized by the C.A.M.A.E. Club, held on the final day: a tribute to the rural and farming roots of this corner of the Valdichiana, where agriculture remains an integral part of the local identity.

A community event

Organized by A.S.D. Viciomaggio with the support of the Municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana, the Festa della Rosa is the result of the voluntary work of the village's residents. This community spirit, combined with the quality of the food and the joy of the evenings, makes it a fixed appointment of the Arezzo spring, eagerly awaited every year by thousands of people.
