The Festa della Pizza is a widespread food and wine initiative that enlivens Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese. For a week, the city's pizzerias become the protagonists of one great celebration of Italy's most beloved dish, involving enthusiasts and the curious in a journey of taste through local establishments.
The 'Pizza Busto'
The common thread of the event is the 'Pizza Busto', a special creation designed for the occasion: it is shaped like a B, the initial of the city, and combines two souls — a classic half with tomato and mozzarella (red and white, the city's colours), identical in all establishments, and a calzone half with an original filling chosen by each pizzaiolo. This offers a recognisable product while showcasing the creativity of individuals.
The taste contest
The initiative is accompanied by a contest that invites participants to discover the different versions of Pizza Busto in multiple locations, sharing their experience on social media. Delicious prizes are up for grabs, including a weekend for two in Tramonti, in the province of Salerno — one of the cradles of pizza — with tastings and a visit to the laboratory of master pastry chef Sal De Riso.
Promoting the territory
Organised by the Municipality of Busto Arsizio with Confcommercio, the Festa della Pizza is both a gastronomic celebration and an action to promote local commerce, capable of showcasing the city's pizzerias and enlivening the city's evenings with a simple, fun, and highly popular initiative.
Festa della Pizza — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festa della Pizza is held in Busto Arsizio from June 7 to 14, with fourteen participating pizzerias. The star is the 'Pizza Busto', shaped like a B: a classic half (tomato and mozzarella) identical in all establishments and a calzone half with a surprise filling chosen by each pizzaiolo, offered at 9 euros. The contest invites participants to consume at least six Pizza Busto in three different locations and share the experience on social media: the first prize is a weekend for two in Tramonti (SA), from September 18 to 20, 2026, including accommodation, tastings, and a visit to Sal De Riso's laboratory. The initiative is organised by the Municipality with Confcommercio and Agesp Energia Gruppo Acinque.
