The devotional festival of November 21st in Dolo
The Festa della Madonna della Salute is one of the most heartfelt observances in the Veneto region and is celebrated every November 21st, the day of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It has its roots in the vow made by the Republic of Venice in 1630, to implore the end of the plague, and from Venice it spread throughout the Veneto territory.
In Dolo, in the province of Venice, the festival is celebrated with numerous religious services in the Cathedral and in the small church annexed to the former Civil Hospital, dedicated precisely to the Madonna della Salute, a destination for local devotion on this day.
As throughout the Venetian area, the observance is also a moment of popular and family tradition, with the custom of enjoying the typical sweets associated with the festival. The celebration is organized by the Parish, in collaboration with local entities in Dolo.
