The July festival in the hamlet of Ballò, between Marian devotion and Venetian cuisine
The Festa della Madonna del Carmine is the festival that, in mid-July, enlivens the hamlet of Ballò, in Mirano, province of Venice. It takes place in the parish area of San Bartolomeo Apostolo and revolves around devotion to the Madonna del Carmine, whose liturgical feast day falls on July 16th.
The religious heart of the festival is the solemn Mass with the procession in honour of the Madonna del Carmine, a moment cherished by the community of Ballò that also draws faithful from neighbouring villages. The festival days unfold around this celebration, offering the chance for a stroll through the hamlet's territory.
The food stand offers traditional home-style cooking from the Venetian hinterland: whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, bigoi in salsa, pasta with ragù, cheese, and polenta. The evenings are accompanied by music, in a village festival atmosphere that makes this event one of the most anticipated summer moments in Ballò. The event is organised by the Parish of San Bartolomeo Apostolo.
For 2026 too, the hamlet of Ballò di Mirano will celebrate the Festa della Madonna del Carmine in the parish area of San Bartolomeo Apostolo. The precise dates have not yet been released: the event traditionally follows the liturgical feast day of the Madonna del Carmine on July 16th.
As per tradition, the festival will feature the solemn Mass with the procession in honour of the Madonna del Carmine and the food stand offering home-style cuisine from the Venetian hinterland — whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, and polenta — accompanied by evening music.
The detailed programme and dates for the Festa della Madonna del Carmine di Ballò 2026 will be announced by the Parish of San Bartolomeo Apostolo closer to the event. The usual format includes, around July 16th: solemn Mass with procession in honour of the Madonna del Carmine, evening food stand with traditional Venetian dishes (whipped cod, fried fish, gnocchi, polenta), and music.
Ballò is a hamlet of Mirano (VE), about 16 km west of Mestre, reachable by car along the Via Miranese or by intercity bus. The festival is held in the parish area of San Bartolomeo Apostolo.
The food stand generally opens in the evening. The solemn Mass and procession take place on the festival days according to the parish calendar.
Free admission to the festival area; food and drinks at the food stand are payable.
