About Fiera di San Matteo

The Antica Fiera di San Matteo is the historic fair of Mirano, in the province of Venice, authorized by the Senate of the Republic of Venice by decree on September 6, 1477. It is held annually around the feast of Saint Matthew the Apostle (September 21), with five days of rides, traveling shows, stalls, food stands, and exhibitors that liven up Piazza Martiri and the historic center. A large, widespread funfair that has marked the end of summer in Mirano for over five centuries.

A fair that has lasted for over five centuries

The Antica Fiera di San Matteo is the historic fair of Mirano, in the province of Venice, and one of the longest-running in the area: it was authorized by the Venetian Republic Senate by decree on September 6, 1477. Since then, it has been renewed every year around the feast of Saint Matthew the Apostle, on September 21, marking the end of summer for the town.

Rides, stalls, and gastronomy

For five days, the heart of Mirano transforms into a large widespread funfair: dozens of rides and traveling shows occupy Piazza Martiri, the adjacent streets, and the stretch of Via Cavin di Sala up to the intersection with Via Torino. Alongside the attractions, market stalls, exhibitors, and food stands complete the festive atmosphere of the fair.

A town tradition

The event is organized by the Municipality of Mirano, through the Department of Commercial Activities. Over the years, the administration has also promoted initiatives such as "Come to the Fair by Bike," with supervised parking for bicycles, to encourage more sustainable mobility during days of high attendance. The Fiera di San Matteo remains a deeply identity-forming event for Mirano and for the entire Riviera del Brenta.
