In the first days of August, the municipality of Gambara, in the Bassa Bresciana (province of Brescia), celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of the Snows, an event that combines religious and popular traditions. Services are held in the sanctuary near the castle, while the town buzzes with cultural initiatives and moments of conviviality involving the entire community.

A program rich in traditions

The festival usually opens with the Games of the Contrade, which pit the town's districts against each other. In the following days, there are exhibitions of painting, sculpture, and photography, performances by the madonnari (street artists who create chalk drawings), concerts, cultural aperitifs, and film screenings. The traditional concert by the Gambara town band is a must-see.

The White Dinner in Parco Breda

Among the most scenic events is the 'Cena della Neve', a 'white dinner' in Parco Breda: participants bring tables, chairs, and food, dress strictly in white, and illuminate the evening with candles, accompanied by live music, DJ sets, and cocktails. A striking image that has become one of the festival''s symbols.

The grand finale with fireworks

The event concludes on August 5th with a fireworks display that lights up the Bassa Bresciana sky. The Feast of Our Lady of the Snows is part of the regional project 'Traditions and Flavors of the Bassa Bresciana', supported by Regione Lombardia, which promotes the gastronomic and cultural traditions of the area.
