The devotion to Saints Vitale and Marziale in Leno has been documented since the year 1000 in the 11th-century Benedictine-Brescian Sacramentary, under the title "Seven Holy Brothers." The two martyrs were first venerated in the famous Leonense abbey – one of the most important Benedictine monasteries in Northern Italy – and later in the parish church, where their relics were transferred in 1780. The date of July 10th is also confirmed by the Martyrology promulgated in 2001.
