Casaloldo and the 300 years of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga
In 2026, the Municipality of Casaloldo, in the Province of Mantua, is experiencing a special year: the Aloysian Year, proclaimed to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, which took place in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII. The celebrations, organized by the Municipality together with the ecomuseum and historian Gian Agazzi, accompany spring and summer with a rich calendar of events involving history, art, and faith.
The Festa del Molinello
The heart of the summer celebrations is the Festa del Molinello, scheduled for August 3rd at Palazzo Aliprandi Gonzaga. The event combines the spiritual and community dimensions: mass, procession, and a festival in the farmyard, in an intertwining of religious devotion and popular tradition that recalls the ancient spirit of peasant festivals.

The Festa del Molinello is the culmination of a broader program. Among the events of the Aloysian Year are the Gonzaga Gravel Family (a bike ride from Castel Goffredo to Palazzo Aliprandi Gonzaga), an evening dedicated to Elena Aliprandi Gonzaga between art and devotion, the Aloysian Walk and Bike Ride through the places of the saint's youth, and an evening at the palace with tastings, music, and enhancement of the architectural heritage.
