The great autumn sagra of Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP in Rio San Martino di Scorzè
In Rio San Martino di Scorzè, a hamlet in the municipality of Mirano in the province of Venice, autumn is dedicated to a product that is almost a symbol of the Veneto region: Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP, defined as "the winter flower that you eat" for its elegant shape and bitter taste. The Festa del Radicchio Rosso has celebrated its excellence for over forty years, and it is one of the most important autumn sagre (traditional festivals) in the area.
The food stand, with ample covered spaces, is the heart of the festival: red radicchio is featured in dozens of recipes, including:
Alongside the culinary delights, the festival offers a rich program: photographic exhibitions, popular games, re-enactments, markets, local craft exhibitions, themed dinners, and guided tastings, conferences on the product, and musical evenings with nationally renowned artists. Among the characteristic events are the Premio San Martino Challenge, a food and wine competition reserved for hotel management schools, and fireworks.
The event is organized by Pro Loco Scorzè and takes place on Via Onaro in Rio San Martino. It promotes an IGP product cultivated in large quantities in this municipality, part of the agricultural tradition of the Marca (Treviso province) and the Veneto region.
The 43rd edition of the Festa del Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP takes place in Rio San Martino di Scorzè from November 7 to 23, 2026. The program, which combines gastronomy, culture, and entertainment around the IGP red radicchio, is confirmed. Organized by Pro Loco Scorzè, on Via Onaro. Free admission.
The festival takes place over several days, from November 7 to 23, 2026. The detailed schedule (musical evenings, themed dinners, conferences) will be published by Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event. The usual structure includes:
