The neighbourhood festival of Matelica's summer, featuring Marche cuisine, dancing, and local tradition
The Festa del Quartiere Regina Pacis is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Matelica, in the heart of the Marche hinterland in the Province of Macerata. Organised by the Quartiere Regina Pacis APS association, the event has enlivened the neighbourhood that gives the festival its name for decades and in 2026 reaches its 39th edition: a milestone that places it among the most long-standing and deeply rooted neighbourhood festivals in the city.
This is not a major festival with national headliners, but something more precious and authentic: a community celebration, built each year by the voluntary work of the neighbourhood's residents, where people gather around tables, dance in the square, and renew a neighbourly bond that endures over time.
The festival takes place at the Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, the space next to the municipal stadium (via Guido Rossa area), easily accessible and with ample parking. In 2026, the evenings are scheduled from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 August, in the height of the Matelica summer, when the Pro Matelica calendar is filled with sagre (food festivals), concerts, and popular events.
The festival's formula is well-tested and revolves around a few ingredients that always work:
The Festa del Quartiere Regina Pacis is part of Matelica's rich tradition of neighbourhood festivals, which during the summer see the town's various districts — including San Rocco and Manozzini — come alive in turn with their own celebrations. For those visiting the Marche hinterland in August, participating in one of these festivals is the most genuine way to connect with the daily life of a Marche community, far from tourist routes and immersed in an atmosphere of popular celebration.
The 2026 edition of the Festa del Quartiere Regina Pacis celebrates the 39th year of the event, confirmed in the official summer calendar of Matelica by the Pro Matelica association. The five evenings take place at the Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, at the municipal stadium.
For 2026, the festival again offers its traditional formula: food stalls with Marche specialities, a large dance floor with evening orchestras, and areas dedicated to children with bouncy castles and games. The festival is managed entirely by neighbourhood volunteers.
The detailed programme of the evenings (orchestras, menus, and activities) will be announced by the organisation in the weeks preceding the event, generally through the Regina Pacis neighbourhood's Facebook page and the Pro Matelica calendar.
Based on previous editions, each of the five evenings includes:
Five consecutive evenings of neighbourhood festival in the heart of Matelica's summer, with the traditional outdoor dance floor, local cuisine, and Verdicchio di Matelica.
Matelica is located in the hinterland of the Province of Macerata. By car, it is connected by the SS256 Muccese and the SP361. The festival is held at Piazzale Caduti di El Alamein, at the municipal stadium (via Guido Rossa area), with ample parking nearby.
The evenings generally start from 7:00 PM, with food stalls opening around 7:30 PM and the dance floor from approximately 9:30 PM.
Entry to the festival area is free. Food at the stalls is paid for by consumption; reservations for evening meals are recommended through the organisation. For information, you can contact the Matelica Tourist Information Office (tel. +39 0737 685684) or consult the neighbourhood's Facebook page.
