The patron saint of Gorle, on September 8th
The Municipality of Gorle, on the outskirts of Bergamo along the Serio river, dedicates its patronal festival to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8th. The town's parish church is named precisely after the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, and the community's most cherished festival revolves around this devotion.
The religious heart of the festival is the solemn holy mass, celebrated in the parish church on the morning of September 8th, at 10:00 AM. At the end of the celebration, a procession winds through the town's streets, a moment of strong popular participation that renews the community's bond with its patron saint each year.
Alongside the religious celebrations, Gorle's patronal festival is enriched with moments of gathering: on the days dedicated to the solemnity, there are food stalls at the sports centre, evenings with a restaurant and pizzeria, and cultural and musical offerings open to all citizens. It is an event that, in a town in the first belt of Bergamo often experienced as a residential area, brings back the sense of community.
The 2026 edition of Gorle's patronal festival is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th, the day of the Nativity of Mary. The day will follow tradition: a solemn holy mass in the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, followed by a procession through the town's streets.
The full program of civil and gastronomic events will be announced by the Municipality and the parish in the weeks preceding the festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Municipality of Gorle. Based on recent editions, the patronal day includes:
