The longest-running festival in Polesine, featuring threshing, peasant cuisine, and dancing
The Festa del Grano di Villamarzana, a small municipality in the province of Rovigo nestled in the Polesine countryside, is much more than a festival: it's a living testament to the deep connection between this territory and the land. Described by the organizers as "one of the longest-running festivals in Polesine," it transforms the village each year into a grand celebration centered around the symbol that gives it its name: wheat.
The core identity of the event lies in the exhibition dedicated to local cultivation, featuring traditional threshing demonstrations that bring back to life the gestures, tools, and machinery of the past. It's an opportunity for families and younger generations to discover how the land was worked in Polesine, in a journey that combines memory and entertainment.
The large gastronomic stand offers traditional meat and fish cuisine, with local dishes such as cured pork meats, polenta, and "fasoi in potacin" (stewed beans), a well-stocked bar, various exhibitors, evening shows, and a free-entry dance floor. There's also a charity raffle and a market.
Organized by the Pro Loco Villamarzana with the support of the Municipality and dozens of volunteers, the Festa del Grano is an anticipated event for all of Polesine. It traditionally takes place on the first and second weekends of July and, with each edition, renews the sense of belonging to a rural community proud of its roots.
The 2026 edition of the Festa del Grano di Villamarzana will continue the long tradition of the festival, organized as always by the Pro Loco on the first and second weekends of July. The proven formula is confirmed: an exhibition on wheat cultivation, threshing demonstrations, a large gastronomic stand with meat and fish dishes, a bar, exhibitors, a charity raffle, musical evenings, and a free-entry dance floor.
The exact dates and the evening-by-evening program will be published by Pro Loco Villamarzana on their channels in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed 2026 program will be announced by Pro Loco Villamarzana in the weeks before the festival. The usual structure includes:
