The Festa dei Maroni di Longara is the autumn event of the hamlet of Longara, south of Vicenza, dedicated to the chestnut, the symbolic fruit of the season. The heart of the festival is the traditional cooking of chestnuts, accompanied by the classic pairing of "maroni e vin bon" (chestnuts and good wine).
Gastronomy and community
For two weekends in October, gastronomic stands and association stalls liven up the Strada delle Grancare area. There is also a charity raffle and, for the little ones, the fun of the Ludobus, the animation bus. The festival culminates with Mass and a community lunch on the final Sunday.
Tradition and creativity
Among the most original initiatives are the "Longara Brick" brick building exhibition and the robotics workshops, which add a touch of creativity and technology to the gastronomic tradition. Organized by the Parrocchia di Longara (Parish of Longara), the festival is a cherished event for the hamlet's community and the entire southern area of Vicenza.
