In Ghizzole, a small hamlet of Montegaldella in the province of Vicenza, pumpkin becomes the absolute protagonist every September. The Festa della Zucca (Pumpkin Festival), reaching its 15th edition in 2026, is a gastronomic fair that celebrates this vegetable in all its forms, from first courses to desserts.
The Pumpkin Tortello De.Co.
The signature dish is the Pumpkin Tortello De.Co. of Montegaldella, a specialty with a Municipal Designation of Origin, rigorously prepared by hand by the tireless volunteers of the Pro Loco. Alongside the tortelli, the menu offers gnocchi, risottos—also with porcini mushrooms or truffles from the Berici Hills—main courses, preserves, and desserts, all centered around pumpkin. A true immersion into the autumn flavors of the Vicenza region.
Two weekends of celebration
The event takes place over two weekends and is not just about food: there is a market, activities and workshops for families, a youth area with bands and DJs, and the fun competition for the best zucchini, which rewards the local growers. Organized by the Pro Loco Montegaldella, the Festa della Zucca is an event that combines agricultural tradition, community, and good food in the heart of the Vicenza countryside.
Festa della Zucca — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the fifteenth, confirms the two-weekend celebration format with pumpkin as the queen of the table. The Pumpkin Tortello De.Co. of Montegaldella, handmade by volunteers starting in July, leads a menu ranging from gnocchi and risottos (also with porcini mushrooms and truffles from the Berici Hills) to main courses, preserves, and desserts.

Ghizzole di Montegaldella is located about 18 km southeast of Vicenza. By car: from the A4 motorway, exit at Grisignano di Zocco, then a few kilometers. By train: Grisignano di Zocco station, then bus or taxi. Address: Via Ghizzole 72.
