Six centuries since the apparitions
On March 7, 1426, while the plague was ravaging Vicenza, the Virgin appeared to Vincenza Pasini on the Berico hill, asking for a temple to be built there. The construction of the Sanctuary began in 1428. Six centuries later, the city and the Diocese celebrate this bond with an entire Marian and Rebirth Jubilee Year, titled "Monte Berico 600".
A jubilee for rebirth
The chosen theme is that of rebirth and spiritual renewal. The symbol of the jubilee year, designed by children from Vicenza schools, depicts Mary's mantle enveloping the Sanctuary, a sign of shared welcome and hope. The initiative is coordinated by a committee that brings together the Servants of Mary, custodians of the Sanctuary, the Diocese of Vicenza, the Municipality and Province of Vicenza, and the Veneto Region.
The Sanctuary of Monte Berico
A pilgrimage destination since the 15th century, the Sanctuary of Monte Berico dominates Vicenza from the top of the hill, reachable on foot along the famous monumental portico. During the jubilee year, the sanctuary will host celebrations, pilgrimages from all over the Diocese, an exhibition dedicated to "Marian Renaissance in Vicenza," and numerous spiritual and cultural events, in a journey that spans throughout 2026.
Monte Berico 600 — edition 2026
The Marian and Rebirth Jubilee Year opens on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Sanctuary of Monte Berico, with a liturgical celebration presided over by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See. For those who cannot find a seat in the sanctuary, a large screen with 500 seats will be available in Piazzale della Vittoria; organizers invite attendees to walk up along the monumental portico.
The calendar continues throughout 2026 with celebrations, diocesan pilgrimages, and cultural events, culminating on the days of the sixth centenary of the first apparition on March 7, 1426.

How to get there
The Sanctuary of Monte Berico can be reached on foot from the center of Vicenza by walking along the monumental portico of Viale X Giugno, or by car and public transport. On the occasion of major celebrations, the Municipality implements temporary traffic changes.
Participation
Celebrations are free to attend. For the opening ceremony on February 8th, a large screen with 500 seats will be set up in Piazzale della Vittoria. Full program at monteberico600.org.
