A mountain festival at the foot of Sasso Remenno

The Festa degli Alpini di Val Masino is the summer event organized by the Alpini Group of this municipality in the province of Sondrio, in the heart of Valtellina. It takes place at the Area Alpini in Sasso Remenno, along the cycle path, in a unique setting dominated by the erratic boulder of the same name, one of the largest in Europe and a popular destination for climbers and nature lovers.

Three days of Alpine feast and conviviality

The festival is spread over three days marked by the typical moments of Alpine tradition. It begins with the flag-raising ceremony at the Monument to the Alpini of San Martino and a tribute at the cemetery, followed by mass at the Alpini hut. The heart of the event is the Alpine feast, served at lunch and dinner with typical Valtellinese specialties — from pizzoccheri to mountain cured meats and cheeses — accompanied by afternoon musical entertainment and evening concerts with an orchestra.

More than just a simple festival, the Festa degli Alpini is a moment of strong community identity, bringing together the inhabitants of Val Masino and the numerous summer visitors around the values of solidarity, memory, and friendship characteristic of the Alpini (the 'black hats').
