The symphonic music season of the Orchestra di Puglia e Basilicata in Gravina in Puglia
The Federiciana Concert Season is the premier event for classical music in Gravina in Puglia, a city in the Metropolitan City of Bari nestled within the Alta Murgia National Park. The festival is promoted by the Orchestra di Puglia e Basilicata, presided over by Maestro Francesco Zingariello and artistically directed by Marco Renzi, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and the Municipality of Gravina in Puglia.
The name pays homage to the area's Frederick II heritage: Gravina is deeply linked to the figure of Frederick II of Swabia, and the season aims to establish the city as a musical hub between Puglia and Basilicata, also in view of its candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture.
Concerts are held in two city venues: the Salone della Fiera San Giorgio, a spacious hall hosting most of the evenings, and the Teatro Vida, a more intimate and cozy space. Both venues offer an immersive listening experience of the orchestra and guest soloists.
The Federiciana program is known for its variety: alongside the great symphonic and chamber repertoire, it features jazz, tributes to the greats of Italian and Neapolitan song, film scores, and world premieres. Each evening highlights a guest soloist or conductor, often musicians of international caliber.
One of the distinctive features of the Federiciana Concert Season is its commitment to affordable pricing, with subscriptions and tickets designed to make live symphonic music accessible to the widest possible audience, including students. The festival has received three-year recognition from the Ministry of Culture, confirming the quality and continuity of the artistic project.
For Gravina in Puglia and the entire Murgia area, the Federiciana represents much more than a concert series: it is a stable cultural institution that combines artistic excellence, local identity, and international openness.
The 2026 Federiciana Concert Season in Gravina in Puglia brought together six evenings with the Orchestra di Puglia e Basilicata, under the artistic direction of Maestro Marco Renzi, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and the Municipality of Gravina in Puglia. The concerts took place between the Salone della Fiera San Giorgio and the Teatro Vida, with affordable ticket prices to encourage access to symphonic music.
The program ranged from tributes to iconic Italian songwriters to the great classical and romantic repertoire, as well as 20th-century American music and world premieres linked to the Puglia and Lucania regions.
