The patronal feast of San Mauro Pascoli between peasant tradition and Romagna cuisine at Villa Torlonia
The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, known to all as Festa alla Torre, is the most heartfelt event of the summer in San Mauro Pascoli, a municipality in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna, a few kilometers from the sea of San Mauro Mare. Every year, around the last Sunday of June, the community gathers to honor its patron saints in a feast that combines religious devotion and Romagna peasant tradition.
The event takes place in the park of Villa Torlonia, the ancient agricultural estate linked to the family of Giovanni Pascoli: here the poet spent his childhood and here his father Ruggero worked as administrator of the Torlonia princes' property, before the tragic assassination that inspired the famous poem La cavalla storna. During the feast, the Tower and the manor house, normally closed to the public, open their doors: you can visit the cellars, the colonnade hall, the main floor with frescoes, and the ancient family chapel.
The heart of the Festa alla Torre is the recovery of Romagna's rural memory. Throughout the three days, there are exhibitions of vintage agricultural tools and historic tractors, demonstrations of ancient crafts, art and craft exhibitions, and folk singing and dancing groups. The most evocative moment is the historical re-enactment dedicated to the life of the peasant farmyard, enlivened by the songs and dances of the Romagna folk group L'Uva Grisa from Bellaria.
There is no shortage of great food: the food stalls offer typical Romagna dishes, from piadina to cappelletti, accompanied by local wine. The evenings end with live music, concerts, and liscio and folk shows, while workshops and entertainment are organized for children. Admission is free and the event is organized by the Associazione Torre with the patronage of the Municipality of San Mauro Pascoli.
The Festa alla Torre returns to Villa Torlonia from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, reprising the tried-and-tested formula in honor of the patron saints of San Mauro Pascoli, Peter and Paul. This year again, the event, organized by the Associazione Torre with the patronage of the Municipality, alternates moments of devotion, peasant tradition, and conviviality in the park of the Pascoli residence.
The evening opening of the food stalls with typical Romagna dishes, guided tours of the Tower and the manor house, the historical re-enactment of the peasant farmyard, and the evening musical performances are confirmed. Admission is free.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, with times, musical lineup, and day-by-day events, will be announced by the Associazione Torre in the weeks preceding the feast.
