Curno celebrates the Assumption
The Municipality of Curno, a populous center in the urban belt of Bergamo, celebrates its patron saint, Saint Mary Assumption, around August 15th. Among the most cherished moments of the summer festivities is the brass band concert in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, organized by the municipal administration.
The band in the square
The protagonist of the evening is the Almenno San Salvatore Musical Corps, a brass band from the Bergamo area, which performs in the square at 9:00 PM. It is a free admission concert, designed to bring residents and families together for an evening of outdoor music. In case of bad weather, the performance will move to the De André Auditorium on via IV Novembre.
A Ferragosto tradition
The concert is part of the celebrations dedicated to the Assumption, a mid-summer feast deeply felt in the towns of the Province of Bergamo. In Curno, the event thus becomes an occasion to gather in the square, on one of the few evenings when the town, often seen as a place of passage along the main roads to Bergamo, rediscovers its community dimension.
