The patron saint of Castelpizzuto on February 5th
On February 5th, the village of Castelpizzuto, in the province of Isernia, celebrates its patron saint, Saint Agatha. This is the most heartfelt religious event of the year for this very small municipality in the Molise Matese region, which has just over a hundred inhabitants.
The day, in the heart of winter, is marked by the solemn mass and the procession with the statue of the saint through the village streets. Despite the small size of the village, the festival maintains a strong sense of identity and cohesion, also attracting those who have emigrated and return for the occasion.
Perched at the foot of the Matese massif, Castelpizzuto is one of the least populated municipalities in Molise. For this reason, its religious festivals—from Saint Agatha to Saint Dominic the Abbot, from Saint Anne to Saint Lucia—represent key moments in the community calendar, carefully preserved by the parish and the inhabitants.
The Feast of Saint Agatha, patron saint of Castelpizzuto, is renewed on February 5th, 2026. The day includes a solemn mass and a procession with the statue of the saint through the village streets, a central event in the religious calendar of this small municipality in the Matese region.
The festival is concentrated on February 5th with the solemn mass in honor of Saint Agatha and the procession of the statue through the streets of the town center. Detailed times will be announced by the parish. Program under update.
