Contemporary dance at the Teatro Garibaldi in Bisceglie, blending research, training, and new choreographic visions
FAVILLE is a contemporary dance festival bringing a programme dedicated to choreographic research and new physical languages to the Teatro Garibaldi in Bisceglie, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani (Puglia). Promoted by the Municipality of Bisceglie and organized by ResExtensa | Porta d'Oriente, the organization founded and directed by choreographer Elisa Barucchieri, the festival has established itself as a hub for research, training, and the promotion of auteur dance.
FAVILLE goes beyond the stage: the festival transforms the theatre into a space open to dialogue and creation, where established artists, young dancers, and the public can connect. Alongside evening performances, the programme features masterclasses, meetings with choreographers, and moments of exploration dedicated to the national dance scene. It is in this intersection of stage and training that the festival builds its unique identity.
The programme highlights world premieres and creations from the leading names in Italian contemporary dance, ranging from ResExtensa productions to guest companies such as EgriBiancoDanza and DANCEHAUSpiù. Works span from intimate duets to group pieces, exploring themes from identity to the relationship between body and time, mask and essence.
The festival takes place entirely at the Teatro Garibaldi, a historic space in Bisceglie restored to the city and once again a focal point for the cultural life of this Apulian town. The choice to root FAVILLE in this venue strengthens the bond between contemporary dance and the community, in a city overlooking the Adriatic that continues to invest in live culture.
With FAVILLE, Bisceglie and Puglia place themselves on the national map of contemporary dance, offering spectators and enthusiasts an event that bridges the gap between artists, territories, and communities. It is a project that showcases emerging talent alongside established names in the dance world.
The 2026 edition of the FAVILLE festival, organized by ResExtensa | Porta d'Oriente under the direction of Elisa Barucchieri and promoted by the Municipality of Bisceglie, spanned the spring with a series of events at the Teatro Garibaldi.
On April 24, the festival opened with the world premiere of Zero.Point.Seven, a creation by Michele Pogliani performed by the seven dancers of the MP3 Dance Project, a work exploring the boundary between mask and essence and the relationship between man and time.
On May 23, PUZZLE - Il Secondo Passo returned to Puglia, a duet performed by Fabiana Mangialardi and Moreno Guadalupi directed by Elisa Barucchieri, followed by La Mia Vita per un Bignè by the EgriBiancoDanza company, created by Bisceglie-born artist Riccardo Fusiello.
On May 25, the festival concluded with a true celebration of dance, featuring masterclasses, meetings, and an evening performance (8:30 PM) presenting BROMANTICA by Matteo Bittante and the world premiere of COPPIA UMANA 174 x 155 cm, a new creation by Samuele Barbetta inspired by the expressionist aesthetics of Egon Schiele, produced by DANCEHAUSpiù.
