About Fara Music Festival

The Fara Music Festival is the most important jazz event in the Province of Rieti, in the heart of the Sabina region of Lazio. Every summer, between the Fara Music Garden and the Parco Cremonesi of the Abbey of Farfa, over thirty concerts bring the evenings to life with more than one hundred Italian and international artists. Founded in 2007 by artistic director Enrico Moccia, the festival combines big names in jazz and singer-songwriter music with the promotion of young talent through the Fara Music Jazz Live Prize.

A jazz festival in the heart of Sabina

The Fara Music Festival is the premier musical event in the municipality of Fara in Sabina, in the Province of Rieti, Lazio. Since 2007, the festival has transformed the charming medieval village and the grounds of the Abbey of Farfa each summer into a sprawling stage dedicated to jazz, singer-songwriter music, and genre-blending performances. Conceived and directed since its inception by Enrico Moccia and produced by the Fara Music APS Association, it is now one of the leading jazz events in Central Italy.

Two stages in Sabina

Concerts take place in two venues that have become the hallmark of the festival: the Fara Music Garden, nestled in the greenery at the foot of the village, and the Parco Cremonesi of the Abbey of Farfa, one of the most fascinating corners of Sabina, where music engages with the thousand-year history of the Benedictine abbey. Evenings are often accompanied by jam sessions, seminars, and clinics with international musicians, in an informal atmosphere that is part of the festival's identity.

Twenty years of music and talent

Having grown over time into a true cultural project, the festival has hosted over four hundred concerts and more than a thousand artists from around the world since 2007. At the heart of its educational mission is the Fara Music Jazz Live Prize, a historic national competition dedicated to the new generation of Italian and European jazz, which has launched many young musicians who are now well-established.

A territory to discover

Attending the Fara Music Festival is also an opportunity to discover Sabina, a land of ancient olive groves, high-quality extra virgin olive oil, and historic villages. The Abbey of Farfa, one of the most important in Europe during the Middle Ages, and the historic center of Fara in Sabina offer spectators a unique setting where evening concerts intertwine with the landscape, local gastronomy, and the hospitality of the Rieti area.
