The historic spring fair of Ceresara, with the De.Co. salami and Mantuan agricultural tradition
In Ceresara, in the province of Mantua, spring brings one of the most deeply rooted events in the local calendar: the Fiera della Possenta. Reaching its 75th edition in 2026, the fair is rooted in the agricultural tradition of the Alto Mantovano region and each year transforms the town into a large space for celebration, markets, and community for seven days at the end of March.
The most anticipated moment is the competition for the best Ceresarese De.Co. Salami, organized by the Accademia Gonzaghesca degli Scalchi, which pits homemade salamis against those from Mantuan rural culture. The award ceremony, in the Show Area, celebrates a product bearing the Municipal Designation mark and has become a symbol of Ceresara's gastronomic identity. Alongside this, the fair's restaurant offers typical dishes from the local peasant tradition.
The Fiera della Possenta is not just about gastronomy. The program includes the funfair, stalls selling sweets and products, conferences dedicated to the agricultural world – such as the round table on generational change in agriculture – the Gran Premio della Possenta cycling race, the vintage tractor parade, comedy shows, and the Ceresara Junior Master Chef cooking competition. A mix of tradition and entertainment that involves the entire town and neighboring municipalities.
Organized by the Municipality of Ceresara with the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the Province of Mantua, the fair also celebrates community ties, such as the twinning with the municipality of Celleno. More than just an event, the Fiera della Possenta is an identity-defining appointment that renews the relationship between Ceresara, its land, and its traditions every spring.
The 2026 edition of the Fiera della Possenta, the 75th, enlivens Ceresara from March 25th to 31st. Seven days that intertwine Mantuan agricultural tradition with fun: the funfair, stalls, the fair's restaurant with typical dishes, and a packed schedule of events organized by local associations. The highlight remains the competition for the best Ceresarese De.Co. Salami, curated by the Accademia Gonzaghesca degli Scalchi.
For the entire duration of the fair: funfair, stalls selling sweets and local products, fair restaurant.
