When Treviglio (province of Bergamo) celebrates its patron saint, Our Lady of Tears, the religious feast intertwines with the popular one thanks to the Fair of Our Lady of Tears. Between February 28th and March 1st, over 160 stalls invade the city centre: from the historic heart to the first ring road and via De Gasperi, the streets become a large open-air market.
A popular tradition
The fair has its roots in the city's devotion and the memory of the Miracle of 1522, but during the feast days, it takes on the characteristics of a large village festival: stalls of all kinds, typical products, street food, and many people walking through the streets. On the occasion of the patronal day, February 28th, the usual weekly market gives way entirely to the fair.

The Fair of Our Lady of Tears is part of the "Treviglio in Festa" programme, which around the end of February brings together religious celebrations, civic ceremonies, carnival, and cultural initiatives, making the Municipality of Treviglio a reference point for the entire Bergamo plain.
