Spring festival in lower Lomellina

Pieve del Cairo, a village in the lower Lomellina region of the province of Pavia, celebrates spring with the Fair in the Courtyard and Castle, an event that combines sport, gastronomy, craftsmanship, and historical heritage. The heart of the festival is the evocative Beccaria Castle, a 12th-century fortress, around which the day's activities unfold along with Piazza Paltineri.

Sport, flavors, and entertainment

The morning opens with an amateur running race and a leisurely walk, with routes of 7 and 12 kilometers. At noon, the table takes center stage with the typical Pavia lunch featuring polenta, agnolotti, farinata, and local cheeses. In the afternoon, the soap bubble and fire show captivates young and old in the castle setting.

Markets and castle tours

Throughout the day, the village hosts the market for hobbyists and artisans, a plant and flower market, and numerous activities for families. Organized by the Pro Loco of Pieve del Cairo, the Fair in the Courtyard and Castle is a key event for spring in Lomellina. The patronal feast dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin is celebrated separately in September. A free event that enhances the historical heritage of the village and the rural identity of the province of Pavia.
