Comics, cosplay, and video games in the Etruscan village of Tuscia
On the last weekend of August, the village of Blera, in the province of Viterbo, opens its doors to EtrusComics, a new festival dedicated to comics, cosplay, and video games, born in the heart of the Tuscia region. On August 29th and 30th, 2026, the streets and squares of the historic center become a grand open-air stage, where the millennial Etruscan history of this land meets the fantasy of contemporary pop culture.
From 4:00 PM until midnight on both days, the historic center of Blera comes alive with stands, shows, and activities designed for enthusiasts of all ages. The program covers the many facets of nerd culture:
The charm of EtrusComics lies in its setting: not a trade fair pavilion, but the narrow streets, picturesque corners, and squares of an authentic Tuscia village, starting from Piazza Santa Maria. The tuff stone architecture and timeless atmosphere offer a unique backdrop, capable of turning every corner into a photo set and every square into an entertainment space.
EtrusComics is not an isolated event: it is part of the Sant'Ermete celebrations, the co-patron saint of Blera. This deeply felt tradition has been one of the most anticipated appointments of the Tuscia summer for decades, alongside the famous Truffle Festival and local product fairs. The event is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Blera, the Pro Loco of Blera, and the Agrarian University of Blera, with the goal of showcasing the territory through a modern language that resonates with younger generations.
Admission is completely free: a choice that makes EtrusComics accessible to curious visitors, families, and enthusiasts alike, with no economic barriers. Between cosplayers in costume, gaming tables, and shows, the festival promises a weekend of fun and wonder in the most authentic Lazio region, where Etruscan culture and pop passion meet.
The 2026 edition marks the debut of EtrusComics in Blera. For two days, Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th of August, the historic center of the Viterbo village hosts a packed calendar of activities dedicated to pop culture: comics, manga, cosplay, video games, retrogaming, and board games, with live shows and meetings with artists and performers.
The event, with free admission, takes place from 4:00 PM until midnight and is part of the Sant'Ermete celebrations, co-patron of Blera, combining the tradition of the Tuscia region with the creativity of the Italian geek scene. The event is organized by the Municipality of Blera, the Pro Loco of Blera, and the Agrarian University of Blera.
Blera is located in the province of Viterbo, in the heart of the Lazio Tuscia region. By car, it can be reached via the Via Cassia (SS2) and local provincial roads; the journey from Rome takes about an hour and a half. The reference train station is Viterbo, which is then connected to the village by local bus services.
EtrusComics takes place on Saturday, August 29th, and Sunday, August 30th, 2026, from 4:00 PM until midnight. Admission is free. Activities are concentrated in the historic center, with the main hub located in Piazza Santa Maria.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking on the village's cobblestone streets and following the official Instagram profile @etruscomics for the detailed program and guest updates.
