The creative process festival debuting in Ruvo di Puglia
In the heart of the Alta Murgia of Bari, Ruvo di Puglia hosts the first edition of ESSERE – Process Festival in April 2026, an event that chooses as its horizon not the finished product but the process: the creative act as it happens, the relationships being built, and shared transformation. Conceived by the Human Ensemble collective, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia and in collaboration with the Youth Forum, the festival was born as an inclusive and participatory space designed for the new generations.
From April 21 to 24, 2026, the historic center of Ruvo di Puglia transforms into an open-air artistic workshop. The city's symbolic landmarks — the Teatro Comunale, the prestigious Jatta National Museum with its famous collection of ancient vases, the Cathedral square, the former Dominican Convent, Piazza Dante, Largo Cattedrale, and Piazza Menotti Garibaldi — host performances, urban installations, concerts, choreography, workshops, and moments of reflection. Even local bars and cultural spaces, from Cantico to Karibu, become part of the journey, testifying to a festival that aims to inhabit the entire city.
The philosophy of ESSERE is encapsulated in its subtitle: Process Festival. The idea is to overturn the logic of traditional performance and focus on the creative journey, with young people called to be active protagonists. Visual art, contemporary music, dance, theater, live electronics, and talks intertwine in a multidisciplinary program that unites established artists and emerging talents from the Apulian region and beyond.
Supported by the collaboration between the Human Ensemble collective and the Youth Forum of Ruvo di Puglia, ESSERE promotes a horizontal model of participation: open workshops, impromptu art sessions, urban flashmobs, and jam sessions become concrete opportunities for meeting and expression. With free admission to all events, the festival positions itself as a new piece in the cultural calendar of the province of Bari and Puglia, capable of intertwining artistic research, public space, and community.
The debut of ESSERE – Process Festival enlivened Ruvo di Puglia for four days, from April 21 to 24, 2026, with a widespread program conceived by the Human Ensemble collective. Each day had its own theme: from the opening in urban spaces, to reflection and interdisciplinary performance, through to the original production at the Teatro Comunale and the closing at the Jatta National Museum. The festival involved artists, musicians, dancers, and local youth, with free admission to all events.
The festival opens in the urban spaces of the historic center.
The widespread exhibition remains visible from April 21 to 28 in Largo Cattedrale and Piazza Menotti Garibaldi.
