Four evenings of food and dancing at the village oratory
In Cumignano sul Naviglio, a village of a few hundred inhabitants nestled in the plains of the Province of Cremona, the end of summer is celebrated at the oratory. The End of Summer Festival is one of those recurring events that mark the village calendar: four consecutive evenings where the community gathers around good food and music.
The formula is simple and proven: every evening, starting at 7:00 PM, the kitchen service kicks off, with traditional dishes prepared by volunteers. Afterwards, musical entertainment livens up the evening. Between ballroom dancing, group dances, and Latin rhythms, the oratory's tent transforms into an open-air dance floor, where all generations of the village meet.
The event is organized by the Ti.Cu.Vi.Ge. Pastoral Unit, which brings together the local parish communities. It is a festival born from and for the oratory, an expression of the associative and parish fabric that holds together the small municipalities of the Po Valley. The village is linked to the parish of San Giorgio Martire, its patron saint, in the diocese of Cremona.
Experiencing the End of Summer Festival is also a way to discover a little-known corner of the Cremona plains, amidst irrigation canals, cultivated fields, and the network of navigli (canals) that give the town its name. An authentic experience, far from the major tourist circuits, in the heart of Lombardy's lowlands.
The End of Summer Festival 2026 will liven up the oratory of Cumignano sul Naviglio from August 23 to 26. Every evening, from 7:00 PM, the kitchen service is active, followed by musical entertainment.
