The environmental sustainability festival in the land of Leonardo
In the village that gave birth to Leonardo da Vinci, the EcoVinci Festival has become a highly anticipated spring event. Dedicated to environmental sustainability and the promotion of the local area, the festival takes place in the historic center of Vinci, within the Metropolitan City of Florence, with Piazza Guido Masi serving as its vibrant hub. Promoted by the Pro Loco of Vinci with the support of many local organizations, the event weaves together culture, nature, and community with a practical focus on the planet's future.
The seventh edition, scheduled from May 21 to 24, 2026, revolves around a profound and timely theme: "Healing the Earth is Making Peace." This guiding principle connects environmental stewardship with climate justice and coexistence, explored through meetings, activities, and moments of collective reflection. The festival opens on Thursday, May 21, at 9:15 PM at the Teatro di Vinci with a screening of the documentary "The Cost of Growth" by Thomas Maddens, which highlights local resistance against resource extraction.
The weekend of May 23 and 24 is the highlight, featuring a packed program that spans the main square and its surroundings:
EcoVinci is more than just a festival; it is a year-round journey. The Ecomercoledรฌ (Eco-Wednesdays), thematic evenings leading up to the event, give a voice to experts, institutions, associations, and companies to discuss the changes affecting the Montalbano region. In doing so, the festival strengthens the dialogue between citizens, local government, and the community, turning Vinci into a small laboratory of sustainability in the heart of Tuscany. On Sunday, the festival also joins forces with the Mangiaggiro, a food and wine walking tour starting from Piazza Guido Masi.
