The craft, vintage, and sustainability market in the heart of San Lorenzo
The Eco & Chic Market is much more than a craft fair: it is a recurring event that transforms Piazza dell'Immacolata, in the San Lorenzo district of Rome, into a hub for conscious consumption. The project was launched in 2020 by the EticArte cultural association, founded by two Roman artisans with extensive experience in the creative market scene, and has quickly established itself as a benchmark for the capital's handmade community.
Each edition brings together around forty exhibitors (sometimes exceeding fifty), each carefully selected to ensure quality and alignment with the event's ethos. Most stalls are dedicated to artistic crafts, complemented by a section of washed and sanitized vintage items and locally sourced goods.
The day's program includes cultural and holistic activities, public workshops, performances, and food stalls with plant-based options. A dedicated children's area is set up in the center of the square, where an educator leads creative workshops throughout the event, making the Eco & Chic Market a particularly family-friendly destination.
The setting is an integral part of the experience. San Lorenzo is Rome's university district—historically working-class and now buzzing with workshops, bookstores, bars, and street art, just a short walk from Termini Station and the Verano Monumental Cemetery. Piazza dell'Immacolata is its natural living room: on Sundays, when the limited traffic zone is lifted, the square fills with residents and Romans from all over the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, for a leisurely stroll among the stalls.
The Eco & Chic Market is not a one-off event but a recurring appointment throughout the year, traditionally held on Sundays, with editions spread across winter, spring, and autumn. The variety and quality of the goods, accessible prices, and the chance to speak directly with the makers are the ingredients that have made the Eco & Chic Market a landmark far beyond the neighborhood borders. It is also a unique way to experience Rome, away from the beaten tourist paths, for those seeking a souvenir that isn't just another mass-produced item.
The first major event of the year for the San Lorenzo market, which reopened the 2026 season in its usual location at Piazza dell'Immacolata, in Rome. As per tradition, the square was occupied all day by the Eco & Chic Market stalls, open continuously from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
Offerings included artistic crafts in all their forms—jewelry, ceramics, mosaics, illustrations, papier-mâché, creative tailoring, millinery, hand-stitched bags and accessories—alongside the vintage section, plants, and local products. The children's area in the center of the square was also confirmed, with creative workshops led by an educator.
The organization is managed by the EticArte cultural association, which has run the project since its inception in 2020.
