Count Pandone's frescoed horses
The castle houses a cycle of frescoes unique in the world: between 1522 and 1527, Count Enrico Pandone had the noble floor rooms frescoed with portraits of his horses, the stallions from the royal stables that he himself bred. Added to this is the "Salone nobile" (Noble Hall) with 16th-century pastoral-themed frescoes.
The collections of the Museum of Molise
In another wing, the castle houses the National Museum of Molise, which preserves paintings from the early Christian period to the modern era. A visit to Castello Pandone is an unmissable stop for anyone wishing to understand the history and art of the Venafro and Molise region.
