Désarpa di Bionaz

The 2025 Désarpa di Bionaz recreated, in early October, the ritual of the descent of herds from the high-altitude pastures of Valpelline. The cows, adorned with colourful "bosquets" and announced by cowbells, descended in a procession to Bionaz, where the community welcomed the animals and alpine farmers at the end of the summer season.

The day featured the election of the "reina dou lace" and the horn queen, and concluded with the tasting of local products: alpine cheeses, cured meats, and traditional Aosta Valley specialities. Organised by Valpelline All Season, the festival reaffirmed its role in preserving the rural and pastoral identity of the municipality of Bionaz, in the province of Aosta.
