About Dance Week

Dance Week transforms the Teatro Il Maggiore in Verbania into a grand choreographic laboratory: nine days of intensive multi-level workshops and three major contemporary dance performances. Promoted by the Fondazione Egri per la Danza, a Center of Relevant National Interest for Dance, the festival brings together choreographers, companies, and students from all over Italy on Lake Maggiore, featuring classes in classical, contemporary, hip-hop, and Caribbean dance, alongside evenings open to the public.

A week of dance on Lake Maggiore

From July 4 to 12, 2026, the Teatro Il Maggiore in Verbania hosts the fifth edition of Dance Week, the summer event promoted by the Fondazione Egri per la Danza in collaboration with the Verbania events center. For nine days, the spaces of the theater overlooking Lake Maggiore come alive with an intensive training workshop and three evening performances open to the public, in a program that combines high-level training and live performance in the heart of the town of Verbania, in Piedmont.

The training workshop

The heart of the event is the dance workshop, with classes from morning until late afternoon divided into three levels starting from age eight: a first level for younger students (8-11 years), a second level (12-14 years), and an advanced level dedicated to dancers over 15. The range of disciplines is wide and touches on all forms of body language:

  • classical and modern dance
  • contemporary dance
  • hip-hop and Caribbean dance
  • pilates and acrobatics
  • dance photography

The classes are led by renowned teachers and artists from the national and international scene, including Viola Scaglione, Monica Casadei, Adriano Bolognino, Riccardo Fusiello, Francesco Valli, Luis Miguel Núñez, and Laura Ziccardi, supported by the dancers of the EgriBiancoDanza company.

Evening performances

Alongside the training, Dance Week offers three evenings of contemporary dance open to everyone:

  • July 5, 7:00 PM – Händel Evening: the Turin-based production companies EgriBiancoDanza and Balletto Teatro di Torino share the stage accompanied by the Orchestra Camerata Strumentale Acquese, in a live dialogue between dance and Baroque music.
  • July 8, 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM – Dar Corpo allo Spazio #6: an itinerant performance journey through the theater's environments, with Francesco Valli, Luis Miguel Núñez, Adriano Bolognino, and Riccardo Fusiello.
  • July 11, 9:00 PM – The Barber of Seville: a contemporary reinterpretation by the Artemis Danza company, with choreography by Monica Casadei.

A project by the Fondazione Egri

The Fondazione Egri per la Danza carries on the legacy of the Dance Study Center founded in 1953 by Susanna Egri and is now recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a Center of Relevant National Interest for Dance. With Dance Week, the Foundation brings to Verbania, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, a proposal that intertwines choreographic tradition and contemporary research, making Piedmont a summer reference point for students, enthusiasts, and spectators.

The fifth edition of Dance Week takes place at the Teatro Il Maggiore in Verbania from July 4 to 12, 2026, featuring nine days of intensive multi-level workshops and three evening contemporary dance performances by the Fondazione Egri per la Danza.
