The historic season of author jazz in Ascoli Piceno
The Cotton Jazz Club is one of the longest-standing and most prestigious jazz institutions in the Marche region. Founded on November 4, 1990, by Sergio D'Auria and now directed by his son Emiliano D'Auria, a pianist and composer, the club has, over three decades, built a program capable of alternating great Italian masters with international stars from the New York and European scenes.
The venue is located in the hamlet of Marino del Tronto, on Via del Commercio, in the industrial area of the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno (Province of Ascoli Piceno, Marche). Away from the historic center, it is a cozy space with carefully curated acoustics, designed for close listening: the audience sits just a few meters from the musicians, in a club atmosphere reminiscent of the historic overseas venues that inspired its name.
The concert season is the core of the club's activity. It runs from November to May with one event per month (sometimes two), almost always on Friday evenings starting at 9:00 PM. The program blends hard bop, contemporary jazz, European avant-garde, and tributes to great historic labels, hosting ensembles ranging from trios to larger groups.
Over the years, the Cotton has hosted musicians such as Roberto Gatto, Fabrizio Bosso, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, and many others on its stage, confirming its status as a reference point for jazz enthusiasts throughout the Piceno area and beyond. The artistic direction of Emiliano D'Auria, who is also active as director of the JazzAP festival, ensures a program that pays attention to both established names and emerging talents.
One of the club's distinctive features is the option to dine before the concert: the service is available from 8:00 PM by reservation, allowing guests to experience the evening as a complete event, combining good food and live music. This format fosters audience loyalty and creates the convivial atmosphere typical of jazz clubs.
The 2025/2026 season marked an important milestone: 35 years since the club's founding, celebrated at the opening concert in November. An anniversary that testifies to the tenacity of an independent cultural project, capable of bringing international-level jazz to Ascoli Piceno season after season.
The 2025/2026 season of the Cotton Jazz Club in Ascoli Piceno celebrated the club's 35 years of activity with a lineup of ten concerts. The artistic direction of Emiliano D'Auria curated a program that alternated major international names and protagonists of Italian jazz, confirming the club's role as a bridge between the Piceno scene and the global one. All concerts were held on Fridays starting at 9:00 PM, with the option of dinner from 8:00 PM.
