Edition 2025 — Cotaccalla and Immaculate Conception Bonfire
The 2025 edition of the Cotaccalla Festival and Immaculate Conception Bonfire took place in Campofranco, in the province of Caltanissetta, around the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th. The traditional large bonfire was lit in Piazza Santa Rita, symbolizing the warding off of bad omens and the start of the Christmas season.
As is customary, faithful and visitors were offered cotaccalla, the circular bread seasoned with oil, salt, pepper, and cheese or ricotta, enjoyed while hot. The evening was enlivened by musical, dance, and cabaret performances, with the involvement of the community and the support of the Pro Loco and the Associazione Giovani di Santa Rita.
