The non-competitive fun run for children and teenagers in Settecamini
Corro anch'io is a non-competitive fun run dedicated to children and teenagers up to 16 years old. Every spring, it brings life to Settecamini, a district on the eastern outskirts of Rome, located within Municipio IV. The traditional meeting point is Piazza Santa Maria dell'Olivo, the religious and social heart of the neighborhood, where the race courses begin, winding through streets closed to traffic for the occasion.
The initiative was launched in 2015 through a collaboration between the sports association ASD Tiburtina Running Roma and the Settecamini parish festival committee, with the goal of offering young people a free, safe, and non-competitive sporting opportunity. Since then, the event has been held almost every year, reaching its ninth edition in 2026 and earning the patronage of Roma Capitale and Municipio IV.
The format is simple and designed to be inclusive. The organizers offer two distinct tracks based on age:
As it is not a competitive race, there are no official times or rankings: all participants who cross the finish line receive a medal. Past editions have featured symbolic prizes for the fastest runners, generous race packs for the children, and a raffle with dozens of prizes donated by local merchants.
Corro anch'io is more than just a morning of sport. The event has always had a social vocation: some editions have been dedicated to supporting local associations and healthcare volunteer groups, with fundraising and awareness-raising moments alongside the race. The involvement of schools, parishes, and sports clubs in Municipio IV turns the square into a large shared space for a few hours, with stalls, entertainment, and families cheering on the young athletes along the barriers.
The race is part of the weekend of festivities in honor of the Madonna di Santa Maria dell'Olivo, the most cherished tradition in Settecamini. Every May, it brings processions, illuminations, food stalls, and evening shows to the neighborhood. However, Corro anch'io maintains its own identity and edition count: it is the sporting event that kicks off the Sunday festivities, usually in the early morning, before the religious celebrations and the fair take center stage.
In an area of the city that thrives on community associations and grassroots initiatives, the race represents a small but solid tradition. For the Lazio region and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Corro anch'io is one of the most successful examples of youth neighborhood running: no competitive ambition, just hundreds of children in motion and an entire district rallying around them. Visitors from outside the area will find a genuine, free, and easily accessible event, perfect for discovering an authentic, non-touristy side of the capital.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Settecamini hosted the ninth edition of Corro anch'io, organized by ASD Tiburtina Running Roma with the patronage of the Municipio IV of Rome Capital. The non-competitive running event was held in the morning, roughly between 8:30 and 9:50 AM, with the start and finish in Piazza Santa Maria dell'Olivo.
The proven format of two age-based courses was confirmed: approx. 400 meters for children up to 7 years old and 1,500 meters for children and teens aged 8 to 16. Medals for all finishers and no official rankings, in line with the inclusive spirit of the event.
To allow the race to take place safely, Roma Servizi per la Mobilitร arranged for the temporary closure of some neighborhood streets and brief service interruptions on local bus lines. The 2026 edition was part of the patronal feast weekend of the Madonna di Santa Maria dell'Olivo, held between May 8 and 10.
During the event, streets around Piazza Santa Maria dell'Olivo were closed to traffic, and bus lines 041 and 041F were subject to detours and stop suspensions.
Settecamini is located along the Via Tiburtina, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare (exit 12). By car: GRA Tiburtina exit, then follow signs for Settecamini; on the morning of the event, several streets around Piazza Santa Maria dell'Olivo are closed to traffic. By train: Roma Settecamini railway station on the FL2 Roma Tiburtina-Tivoli line. By bus: Local Atac lines (041 and 041F), which may be subject to detours and stop suspensions during the race hours.
This is a non-competitive, popular event. Registration is handled via the ASD Tiburtina Running Roma form; the updated regulations are published annually on the association's website. It is recommended to arrive at the square at least half an hour before the start to collect your race bib.
The event is designed for families with children: bring sneakers, a hat, and water. Since the race takes place during the patronal feast weekend, it is well worth staying after the finish line to enjoy the stalls and neighborhood activities.
