Carpets of flowers for the solemnity of Corpus Domini in the historic center of Nocera Umbra
On the day of Corpus Domini, the historic center of Nocera Umbra, in the province of Perugia, transforms into a path of colors and scents. The Flower Festival is a centuries-old tradition that consists of creating carpets and pictures of flowers artistically arranged along the streets that the procession of the Blessed Sacrament crosses, with Piazza Umberto I as the focal point of the event.
As in other flower festivals in Umbria, the event stems from the choral work of the inhabitants: children, young people, adults, and the elderly collaborate side by side to create designs that last only a few hoursโthe time of the procession's passageโbut which leave a deep mark. It is a simple gesture, made with the heart, that speaks of faith, collaboration, and the desire to be together, and which renews the identity of the Nocera community every year.
The Corpus Domini flower festivals are widespread in southern Umbria and the Apennine area, where they represent the most beautiful artistic setting to celebrate the solemnity. In Nocera Umbra, a village in the Umbrian-Marche Apennines known for its springs, the Flower Festival is one of the most heartfelt events of the spring calendar, capable of attracting faithful and visitors.
In 2026, the solemnity of Corpus Domini falls on Sunday, June 7: on this day, Nocera Umbra renews its Flower Festival, with flower carpets created in Piazza Umberto I and along the streets crossed by the procession. The event is part of the rich spring 2026 event calendar promoted by the Municipality of Nocera Umbra, which combines culture, traditions, nature, and sports.
The times for setup and the procession will be communicated by the Municipality and the parish closer to the event.
Nocera Umbra can be reached by car from the SS3 Flaminia; Nocera Umbra train station is on the Foligno-Ancona line. The Flower Festival takes place in the historic center, around Piazza Umberto I.
Free admission event. The floral carpets are visible in the hours preceding and during the procession.
