About Coppa Faro

Every autumn, the Coppa Faro transforms the Monte San Bartolo Panoramic Road in Pesaro into the stage for one of Italy's most spectacular hill climbs. Over the 3.8 km that climb from the bay of Baia Flaminia to the lighthouse overlooking the port, dozens of historic cars โ€“ racing cars built between the 1940s and the early 1990s โ€“ compete against the clock in a round of the Italian Historic Car Speed Hill Climb Championship (CIVSA). An event that combines sport, vintage engines, and one of the most beautiful landscapes on the Marche coast.

A vintage hill climb between sea and hills

The Coppa Faro is the speed hill climb race for historic cars that enlivens the coast of Pesaro, in Marche, every autumn. The course winds its way up for about 3.8 kilometres along the SP 44 Panoramica Adriatica, starting from the picturesque Baia Flaminia and climbing, curve after curve, up to the lighthouse that overlooks the port, immersed in the green scenery of the Monte San Bartolo Natural Park. It is one of the few events where the roar of vintage engines blends with the view of the Adriatic Sea.

A tradition reborn

The climb to San Bartolo has deep roots: the last edition of the historic hill climb was held in 1970, won by Pietro Lo Piccolo from Sicily driving a Ferrari Dino. After almost half a century, in 2017, a group of passionate drivers and organisers from Marche revived the race, which has been held annually with growing success ever since. Organised by P&G Racing srl, under the direction of Alessandro Rinolfi, the Coppa Faro quickly obtained the highest validation in the Italian Historic Car Speed Hill Climb Championship (CIVSA), becoming one of the most anticipated rounds of the national calendar.

The stars: the historic cars

In the race, you can see competition cars built from the 1940s to the early 1990s: barchettas, grand tourers, prototypes, and single-seaters that have made automotive history. The 2025 edition set a record with 106 cars registered, making the Coppa Faro the historic car hill climb with the largest number of participants in Italy. Alongside the timed competition, a non-competitive parade is often held, allowing enthusiasts to drive the historic panoramic road.

More than just a race

The event, supported by the Municipality of Pesaro and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, with the patronage of the Monte San Bartolo Park Authority and organisations like Terra di Piloti e Motori and ACI Pesaro Urbino, also has a solidarity and environmental focus. In recent years, the organisers have promoted reforestation initiatives on Monte San Bartolo and collaborations with local associations. For the residents of Pesaro and the many enthusiasts who come from all over Italy, the Coppa Faro is now a classic early autumn event.

Coppa Faro โ€” edition 2026

The 9th Coppa Faro is scheduled from October 9 to 11, 2026, confirmed in the official calendar of the Italian Historic Car Speed Hill Climb Championship (CIVSA) as one of the final rounds of the season. The hill climb returns to the SP 44 Monte San Bartolo Panoramic Road, from Baia Flaminia to the Pesaro lighthouse.

The 9th edition of the Coppa Faro will take place in Pesaro from October 9 to 11, 2026, as indicated in the official CIVSA 2026 calendar. As tradition dictates, the event spans three days: arrival of cars and technical and sporting checks, official practice runs with a parade, and the final timed race along the 3.8 km of the Monte San Bartolo Panoramic Road. The event is organised by P&G Racing srl with the support of the Municipality of Pesaro and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.
