The re-enactment of the ancient car race between Umbria and Tuscany
The Coppa della Perugina has its roots in the 1920s, when it was an international car race conceived by Giovanni Buitoni, owner of the confectionery company La Perugina. Today it lives again as a commemorative event dedicated to historic cars produced up to 1965, organized by C.A.M.E.P. โ Club Auto Moto d'Epoca Perugino and included in the national historic motoring circuits (ASI).
The event starts from Perugia, whose historic center becomes an open-air museum for a day with cars displayed around Piazza Italia and Corso Vannucci, and then winds its way through Umbria and Tuscany, touching places like the Abbey of Monte Corona, Cascia, and the hills of Montepulciano. Three days alternating tests of skill and regularity, culture, landscapes, and conviviality among the crews.
Faithful to its origins linked to Perugina, the event maintains chocolate as a symbolic element, with the conclusion traditionally hosted at the Perugina Museum. The Coppa della Perugina attracts participants from all over Italy and abroad, vintage car enthusiasts drawn by the combination of historic engines and the beauties of the green heart of Italy.
The 37th edition of the Coppa della Perugina took place from May 7 to 10, 2026, confirming the formula of the re-enactment between Umbria and Tuscany. Starting from Perugia, with the historic center transformed into an open-air museum, then a route that touched the Abbey of Monte Corona, Cascia, and the hills of Montepulciano, concluding at the Perugina Museum.
The event brought together crews from all over Italy in vintage cars, with tests of skill and cultural stages.
