About Commerciantinfesta

An entire spring weekend when the historic center of San Giovanni in Persiceto, in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, transforms into a large open-air market. Shops open with special offers, about fifty commercial activities under gazebos, live music, street food, and workshops for families animate squares and streets between Porta Vittoria and Piazza del Popolo. A free and popular event, organized by Pro Loco San Zvan together with the town's merchants, designed to rediscover the pleasure of local shopping.

Commerciantinfesta, the commercial heart of Persiceto in the square

Every spring Commerciantinfesta brings life and color back to the historic center of San Giovanni in Persiceto, an important town in the Bolognese plain in Emilia-Romagna, a few kilometers from Bologna. For an entire weekend, the town's streets and squares fill with gazebos, stalls, and music: about fifty local businesses leave their shops to offer discounts, special offers, and showcase products along the streets, transforming the town into a large open-air market.

A festival created to promote local commerce

The initiative stems from the desire to rediscover and promote proximity commerce, that of historic shops and boutiques that animate the center of Persiceto. The event is organized by Pro Loco San Zvan together with CedAscom, with the patronage of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto. Over the years, the event has grown to become an anticipated appointment for the community, capable of combining shopping, music, and conviviality.

Music, street food, and workshops for everyone

In addition to the lively shop windows, the program includes concerts and DJ sets in Piazza del Popolo, live performances in the town's venues and shops, and a rich offer of street food curated by the Parish, Pro Loco, and local realities like Piada in Piedi and Punto e Pasta, alongside zero-kilometer farms. There are also creative workshops and activities for families and children, making Commerciantinfesta an event suitable for all ages.

A weekend in the company of the Parrocchia in Festa

Often, the event takes place in parallel with the Parrocchia in Festa (Parish Festival) at the church of San Giovanni Battista, with a food stand, musical entertainment, and a charity raffle: two events that together liven up Persiceto for several spring days. Strolling through the center during Commerciantinfesta means experiencing the town in its most authentic and community-oriented dimension, amidst history, tradition, and good Emilian cuisine.

Commerciantinfesta — edition 2026

The XXI edition of Commerciantinfesta took place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2026 in the historic center of San Giovanni in Persiceto, with about fifty merchants, live music, street food, and workshops for families between Porta Vittoria and Piazza del Popolo.

For the XXI edition, Commerciantinfesta animated the historic center of San Giovanni in Persiceto for two spring days, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2026.
