About Codigoro Theatre Review

Every winter, the Arena Cinema Theatre in Codigoro, in the heart of the Ferrara Po Delta, hosts the Theatre Review promoted by the Municipality and the Department of Culture. A programme of prose, brilliant comedy, and live performances that brings well-known faces from Italian theatre and television to the stage, in an event keenly felt by the community and the entire Lower Ferrara region.

A theatre season in the heart of the Po Delta

The Codigoro Theatre Arena Review is one of the most anticipated cultural events in Codigoro, a municipality in the Province of Ferrara overlooking the Po Delta, in Emilia-Romagna. Created thanks to the commitment of the Municipality of Codigoro through the Department of Culture, the review continues a tradition particularly appreciated by the entire community, transforming the winter months into a season of prose, comedy, and brilliant theatre.

The Arena Cinema Theatre

The shows take place at the Arena Cinema Theatre, in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, a modern and versatile venue designed to host different genres: prose, music, dance, comedy theatre, musicals, cinema, family shows, and cultural events. Its central location makes it the main space dedicated to live performance in the Codigoro area.

The 2026 programme

The 2026 season featured five shows starting at 9:00 PM:

  • January 30Dove eravamo rimasti
  • February 13Squilla il telefono
  • February 28L'inferiorità mentale della donna. Un evergreen del pensiero reazionario tra musica e parole
  • March 12Contrazioni pericolose, a brilliant comedy by Gabriele Pignotta with Rocío Muñoz Morales and Giorgio Lupano
  • April 10Una donna di prim'ordine. Guida pratica per sistemare l'armadio, il cane e il marito

Between laughter and reflection

The common thread of the review is brilliant theatre and comedy capable of combining lightness and reflection: from the couple's dynamics in Contrazioni pericolose, set in a hospital's gynaecology department, to shows that blend music and words. A programme designed for a wide audience, which fills the Arena hall every year.

Codigoro and the Po Delta

Attending a show in Codigoro is also an opportunity to discover a precious corner of Emilia-Romagna: the nearby Pomposa Abbey, with its famous Romanesque bell tower, the valleys and landscapes of the Po Delta Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the local cuisine, featuring eel, rice, and valley fish.
